The Friends of the Rogers Historical Museum, a non-profit 501(c)(3) membership organization, was founded in 1975 following a suggestion by Beth Hough, wife of Daisy Manufacturing president Cass Hough. In a letter to Vera Key, the first chair of the Rogers Museum Commission, Mrs. Hough wrote:
“I feel strongly we are going to need more help to meet our October 1 deadline to open the museum and to continue the big job of establishing it. I would like to suggest the formation of a ‘Friends of the Museum’ group as soon as possible.”
The Museum Commission agreed, and Friends of the Rogers Historical Museum was officially formed. Since then, the Friends organization has been essential to the museum’s success, ensuring that future generations can learn from and appreciate our city’s past.
Friends memberships support student educational opportunities, including funding bus transportation for local school field trips to the museum and contributing to annual scholarships for seniors from Rogers’ three public high schools. Our scholarship commitment reflects our desire to increase history education and preservation in our community.
